REV. ATTY. MARQUIS EUGENE JONES, 88, of Little Rock, Ark., peacefully transitioned on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Colonel Glenn Nursing Home & Rehab.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice L. (Akins) Jones; and his parents, Sarah B. Mitchell Watts Abdullah and Rev. William Sherman Jones.
Marquis was a retired attorney of Jones & Tiller Law Firm, and the retired pastor of Union Baptist Church, Winchester, Ark.
His survivors include daughters, Judge Margaret R. Jones-Johnson (Jerry), of Dallas, Texas and Xerlotta L. Jones, of Scott, Ark.; son, Marquis E. Jones II (D.Christa), of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren, Grant E. Broadway, of LR, Ark., and Mason A. Jones, of Chandler, Ariz.; brother, Wiliam S. Jones III (Mary), of Sacramento, Calif.; and sisters, Shirley A. Fortson ((Marshall), of Chicago, Illinois, Sherry Cobb and Carlos L. Jones-Armstrong; and a host of other loving relatives and special friends.
A Family Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5-6 p.m. at Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church Highland Park, 1701 S. Pine Street, Little Rock, Ark. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Ark.
